In July 2019,
the findings made by the Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA)
working group were announced. Not only did their report highlight
the importance of regulating property agents, but it recommended
that they need to be qualified in order to carry out their
role.
Level 3 Qualifications would be required for Property Agents,
and Level 4 Qualifications would be required for those who are
currently, or wish to be, a company director or management
agent.

For those currently qualified, it has been suggested that top up
modules may be implemented to ensure that agents need not take a
qualification all over again. Learners who register with
Propertymark Qualifications will be guided through the requirements
as RoPA progresses through legislation.
As the market leader and only specialist awarding body for
agents in the sector, we will ensure that our Qualifications are
up-to-date to fit in with any new syllabus required and offer
support, where needed, to those who have qualified in the past or
are looking to take their qualification in future.
We believe that this news will lead to higher professional
standards in the industry and look forward to preparing agents for
licensing, as well as supporting their continued professional
development, so that they will excel in their role.
