Q&A with Elizabeth Anderson, Sales Candidate of the Year 2018

Elizabeth AndersonEach year, Propertymark Qualifications recognises learners who have excelled in their studies, pushing themselves to become the highest performing candidate within their dedicated area. Our Sales Candidate of the Year in 2018 was Elizabeth Anderson from Quantum Sales & Lettings. We caught up with her to see what her professional life has been like for the last 12 months.

Liz, you were awarded for being the highest performing sales candidate last year, how does that make you feel?

Absolutely amazed, delighted and, without sounding too conceited, really proud of myself; especially as I was totally unaware such awards existed and had not had to revise for exams since my degree a good number of years ago! Being invited to The House of Lords was an honour in itself and my husband & two of the directors at Quantum were able to celebrate with me.

" ...just having the qualification makes me feel even more confident in my role."

How has your day-to-day job changed over the last 12 months?

I am pleased to say that I have been promoted! Also, in a strange way, (even though I have been working in this industry for many years) just having the qualification makes me feel even more confident in my role.

Can you fill us in on what you have been up to since the awards last year?

It has been a case of onwards and upwards. The whole team at Quantum is now professionally qualified. Every one of us has achieved the Level 3 Awards in either Residential Sales or Residential Lettings and our framed certificates take pride of place on our office wall.

Why do you think qualifications are important within this sector?

Propertymark Qualifications create a professional benchmark that, although not compulsory (yet), any forward-thinking agency should aim for. For employees, it should be part of their continuing professional development to enhance their career path and maybe even attract a pay rise! For our clients, whether vendors or buyers, landlords or tenants, professional qualifications instil confidence and trust in our competence, integrity and knowledge.

It means they can expect a certain quality of service and receive it. For an agency, investing in staff in this way is beneficial all round. This accolade could be key in winning market appraisals, retaining clients and providing positive moving experiences for all.

What's next for you?

I will continue to enjoy my role at Quantum and who knows, maybe, the Propertymark Level 4 Certificate in Residential Sales is calling!

I learned so much, it was fantastic
