John Pye Auctions, Employer Champion of the Year 2017

Chris WoodThe Propertymark Qualifications 'Employer Champion of the Year' award recognises employers who make learning key to their success by supporting the professional progression of their employees, and last year's winner, John Pye Property, do just that - constantly investing in the development of their staff, and actively encouraging employees to take on industry related training.

Now in their 50th year, John Pye Property has grown substantially over the decades. Education and career progression has been a major contributing factor to their success, as they explain:

"We were thrilled to have received the Employer Champion of the Year award at last year's event. As a business, we place huge importance on learning and continued development, so for this to be recognised with a national property award is really something.

"We believe that having knowledgeable staff creates a confident working atmosphere; one in which all team members feel they are making a valid contribution towards the company's goals. Supporting staff with their continued learning has also meant we have greater staff retention, which in turn, provides a consistently high level of customer service to our clients and customers.

"In order to sustain and support the continued growth of the company we encourage staff to undertake industry related learning - this helps to improve their understanding of the sector and their chosen career path. It also means that less experienced staff can provide competent support to our more experienced employees who are already qualified in the field; which gives our clients and customers reassurance that they are receiving the highest level of customer care within the market sector."

"Consistently high standards are crucial within this industry and our commitment to learning is fuelled by wanting to provide the very best possible service to our customers."

"We were delighted to have three staff members achieved certification from Propertymark Qualifications over the past year. Richard Reed (Head of Property), Helen Bingley (Property Administration Supervisor) and Hayley Riley (Estate Agency Supervisor) all felt an immense sense of achievement in completing the Level 3 Award in Real Property Auctioneering which culminated in our nomination and subsequent receipt of the 'Employer Champion of the Year' award in 2017 - an achievement we are all very proud of!

"Our newly qualified Auction Negotiator, Leah Handley, who successfully completed her City & Guilds Level 2 Property Services early this year is now looking to enrol and complete her Level 3 Award in Real Property Auctioneering to further her personal development and give her career prospects and personal development a valuable boost.

"Our team have found that studying for a qualification alongside day to day working within a property environment helps to compound their core knowledge of the industry further, and in completing the course and broadening their experience within the property industry enables our property specialists to give the correct advice to all our clients be they sellers or buyers.

"Consistently high standards are crucial within this industry and our commitment to learning is fuelled by wanting to provide the very best possible service to our customers.

"The award has given our team further integrity within the property industry, and we will continue to support our staff to further their development."
